The season of mellow fruitfulness

Our field in which Hilltop Barn resides has now been regenerating for four years. With help from Jays and Squirrels we now have a young woodland of increasing diversity that is growing up rapidly. In the early years the ‘scrub’ dominates but it will eventually be overtaken by the shading of the trees. However this scrub, in which bramble and hawthorn are the dominant species provides a fantastic resource for wildlife and humans alike. Come and collect beautiful large blackberries for free and take home all you can handle for your freezer. We have short breaks available throughout the autumn period. The next five weeks is best for the blackberries but a few linger well into October, depending on the weather.
