Lincolnshire Walks – Slea Navigation

Plans to open up the River Slea Navigation from Chapel Hill near Kyme to Sleaford remain in place. This project may be some time in coming but in the meantime the Steeple to Steeple walk from Lincoln Cathedral to St Denys church in Sleaford follows the river through Haverholme and four locks into the market town. It can be accessed at various points along the way. The photo shows the stark outline of Haverholme Priory. It was established in the middle ages and became a private residence for a while in the nineteenth century before being abandoned in the 1920s. Lincolnshire walks are full of such fascinating places that you come across sometimes quite unexpectedly.
