Lincoln Castle upcoming exhibition

The Magna Carta Vault at Lincoln Castle has three state of the art secure cases, one each for Magna Carta and Charter of the Forest and the third for a guest document. For a limited period until May 25, that guest will be Matthew Paris’s Chronica Majora, one of medieval England’s most important documents. Thanks to a historic loan from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, visitors will be taken back to 1216 and the Battle of Lincoln Fair, won by a legendary knight against all the odds. Matthew Paris, a Benedictine monk was not only gifted writer but also a vivid illustrator and his depiction of the battle really captures this critical moment in English history.

Lincoln Castle was restored over ten years 2005-15 and is to be featured in a new documentary series on Sky History exploring some of the UK’s most iconic castles. The Great British Castle Rescue is a brand-new show presented by Rick Edwards to shine a light on nine castles across the nation.
