One of the delightful spin-offs of the exceptionally soggy October is the fantastic show of our woodland fungi. This collection was made in two hours at the Forestry Commission Twyford Woods, near Colsterworth. Our resident Lincolnshire County Recorder clocked up more than 60 species, aided by a local team of enthusiasts. A delicious pub lunch at the White Lion in Colsterworth is a well worth follow-up to the sunny walk. Just round the corner is the National Trust managed Woolsthorpe Manor, home of Isaac Newton. A great day out is always on the cards close to Hilltop Farm, any time of the year.
