The Viking Way is one of England’s many defined walks through beautiful landscapes. Hilltop Farm is on the mid section of this excellent walk, that takes you from the Humber via Lincoln Cathedral and Castle to Rutland Water. This section follows the old Roman Ermine Street for around 4 miles, passing the old RAF Wellingore site and through a Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust reserve before arriving at the very convenient Byard’s Leap cafe. The wildflowers are especially good in the late summer and autumn on this easily walked section on the limestone ridge.
